Amelia Garvey
New Zealand representative golfer Amelia Garvey was born in England, but her golfing journey started on the small practice grounds of the Kaiapoi Golf Club in New Zealand, at the age of 6.
Being the tomboy she is, she played several sports growing up, so she only had time to play golf a few days a week. On the days she could play, she’d be out there from dawn until dusk. Amelia would often find herself begging to be picked up later than her parents wanted due to her absolute obsession with the sport.
As an all-around athlete, Amelia has been able to develop skills that have enhanced her game further than some of her competitors. Amelia’s different perspective and accomplishments set her apart, allowing her to be a strong, positive female influence in the game of golf.
This is what drives Amelia to push her limits, be creative, and curious to try new things that have never been done.
Amelia began her professional golf career in 2022 on the Epson Tour and just missed qualifying for the full LPGA tour in both 2023 and 2024. In 2023 she qualified for the US Women’s Open held at Pebble Beach and made the cut, a great achievement.
In late 2024, Amelia qualified for the Ladies European Tour (LET) for 2025 shooting an impressive 20 under par at the qualifying tournament in Morocco in finishing 4th. She made a great fist of her first year on the tour, finishing 13th in the Order of Merit and registering five Top 10 finishes. These included 2nd place in the Wistron Ladies Open and 3rd placings in each of the Hulencourt Women’s Open, Amundi German Masters and KPMG Women’s Irish Open. With an average driving distance of nearly 265 metres during the season, Amelia is one of the longest hitters on the tour.
